Passiontide

Passiontide. Traditionally the last two weeks of Lent, from Passion Sunday to Holy Saturday. It was customary to veil all crucifixes, pictures, and images in church, and to omit the Gloria Patri during this period. In the RC Church the title of Passion Sunday as such was dropped in 1969 and the observance combined with Palm Sunday. There are now no observances peculiar to the period as a whole.
