Ordinary of the Mass (Lat. Ordo Missae). Until recently the term was used to describe the invariable or almost invariable parts of the Mass, as distinguished from the parts which varied with the ecclesiastical calendar. The 1970 Missale Romanum applies the term ‘Ordo Missae’ to the whole service.
