Orange, Councils of

Orange, Councils of. Two synods were held at Orange in S. France in 441 and 529. The 25 dogmatic capitula of the latter upheld many of St Augustine's doctrines on the nature of grace against the Semipelagianism previously current in the region, though the Council repudiated any predestination of man to evil.
