Modern Church People's Union

Modern Church People's Union. An Anglican society for the advancement of liberal religious thought, especially in the C of E. Founded in 1898 as the ‘Churchmen's Union’, from 1928 to 1987 it was called the ‘Modern Churchmen's Union’. It seeks to uphold the comprehensiveness of the C of E and to maintain the legitimacy of doctrinal restatement in accordance with the requirements of modern science.
