Latrocinium (i.e. ‘Robber Council’). The Council held at Ephesus in 449. Dominated by Dioscorus, Patr. of Alexandria, an upholder of Monophysitism, the Council acquitted Eutyches of heresy and reinstated him in his monastery. Its decisions were reversed at Chalcedon in 451.
