Enhypostasia. The doctrine that, in the incarnate Christ, though the humanity has no ‘person’ (
hypostasis) of its own, it is not on that account ‘anhypostatic’ (deprived of a
hypostasis), but finds its
hypostasis in the
hypostasis of the Logos. Thus the distinguishing features of the particular man who Jesus is, as well as the essential qualities of the species (mankind) to which He belongs, are attributed to the Divine
hypostasis.
