Dublin. An English
Augustinian friar, as Provincial of his Order he was charged by
Henry VIII in 1534 with part in a visitation of the friars which included administering the Oath of
Supremacy. In 1536 he was appointed Abp. of Dublin. He took part in the suppression of the Irish monasteries, and under
Edward VI he became the leader of the Irish clergy who accepted the new religion. In 1554, under
Mary, he was deprived of his see, presumbly because he was married.
