priesthood of the Church Because Christians are united by baptism and Eucharist to Christ, it is appropriate to regard the Church as itself priestly, (1 Pet. 1: 9–10), and all participate in the mystery of Christ (1 Cor. 10: 16). The priesthood is corporate; in the NT individuals are not called priests.
