Eve (Gen. 4: 25) and regarded in the narrative as heralding a more respectable line than that of the criminal Cain. With the birth of Seth people began the custom of calling on the name of Yahweh (Gen. 4: 26), and it is through the line of Seth that the human race was propagated (Gen. 5: 7).
