Jülicher, Adolf
Jülicher, Adolf (1857–1938) German NT scholar and professor at Marburg who wrote a seminal work on Jesus'
parables. He rejected the historical authenticity of explanations ascribed to Jesus (e.g. Mark 4: 13–20) that are in terms of
allegory. Parables were stories making one point only: the explanations are, he judged, the work of the next-generation Church.
