binomial distribution A probability distribution for the occurrence of a specific event which either occurs or not—such as winning a race. The binomial distribution is symmetrical (like the
normal distribution), in certain cases, but is otherwise skewed. See also
DISTRIBUTION (STATISTICAL OR FREQUENCY).
