white-light corona The Sun's corona as seen at visible wavelengths during total solar eclipses and with coronagraphs. The white-light emission arises from light from the Sun's photosphere that is scattered by free electrons (the K corona) and dust (the F corona). A small amount of visible light is from emission lines (the E corona).
