mesopause
mesopause The upper boundary of the
mesosphere, 85 km above Earth's surface. Temperatures close to the mesopause are low, typically around -110°C. Temperatures at this level are at their lowest in the summer, and values as low as -162°C have been recorded by rocket-borne instruments flown into
noctilucent clouds, whose condensation close to this atmospheric level during the summer months is favoured by such conditions.
