lunisolar precession The effect of the attractions of the Sun and Moon on the Earth's equatorial bulge, which causes the Earth's pole to sweep out a circle on the sky around the pole of the ecliptic. Simultaneously, the position of the equinoxes moves westwards along the ecliptic. See also nutation; precession.
