fast nova

fast nova A type of nova that declines by 3 magnitudes from maximum in 100 days or less; abbr. NA. An alternative classification is based on the time taken to decline by 2 magnitudes from maximum: very fast, less than 10 days; fast, 11–25 days; moderately fast, 26–80 days; slow, 81–150 days; very slow, 151–250 days.
