Very Energetic Radiation Imaging Telescope Array System (VERITAS) An array of four 12‐m optical reflectors for gamma‐ray astronomy in the 50 GeV–50 TeV range at the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory, Arizona. Each dish consists of 350 individual hexagonal mirrors. The four dishes are arranged in a Y shape with spacings of 80 m. The array, opened in 2007, is owned and operated by a consortium of ten institutions in the US, the UK, Ireland, and Canada, led by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.  http://veritas.sao.arizona.edu/
