Pic du Midi Observatory
Pic du Midi Observatory An observatory at an altitude of 2860 m in the Pyrenees mountains of southwestern France, owned by the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (
CNRS) and operated by Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse; its headquarters are in Bagnères-de-Bigorre. Pic du Midi Observatory was founded in 1878 primarily for meteorology, with solar observations starting in 1892. Its main instruments are the 2-m Bernard Lyot reflector, opened in 1979, a 1-m reflector opened in 1963, and several solar telescopes. http://bagn.obs-mip.fr/obs/index.php
