Hat Creek Radio Observatory
Hat Creek Radio Observatory The radio observatory of the University of California at Berkeley, sited at an altitude of 1040 m at Cassel, California. The observatory was founded in 1960. It is the site of the
Allen Telescope Array (
ATA), consisting of 350 antennae of 6.1‐m diameter devoted to the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (
SETI). Hat Creek was previously the site of the Berkeley–Illinois–Maryland Association (
BIMA) Array, moved in 2005 to become part of the
Combined Array for Research in Millimeter‐wave Astronomy (
CARMA).
