Galileo Regio A large dark area about 5000 km across on Jupiter's satellite Ganymede, centred at +47° lat., 130° W long. It is crossed by an extensive parallel system of ancient ridged furrows 10–30 km wide with raised rims, and is prominent enough to be visible through large Earth-based telescopes. Galileo Regio has rounded hummocky terrain, suggestive of some erosive process.
