Dubhe

Dubhe The star Alpha Ursae Majoris, magnitude 1.8. It is a K0 giant lying 124 l.y. away. It is a close double star, with an A8 dwarf companion of magnitude 4.8 that orbits it in a period of 45 years. It is one of the two Pointers that indicate the direction of the Pole Star, Polaris.
