Platyasterida (starfish; class Stelleroidea, subclass Asteroidea) An order of starfish that are characterized by the arrangement of arm
ossicles in transverse rows, from axial elements (
adambulacrals,
ambulacrals) laterally. Only one row of marginal ossicles is present. There are three genera, two
Palaeozoic and one
Holocene.
