Mormyriformes (subclass Actinopterygii, superorder Osteoglossomorpha) An order of primarily nocturnal freshwater fish that have small eyes and mouth and varying body profile. Several genera (e.g.
Mormyrus and
Gymnarchus) have electric organs capable of producing weak electric discharges.
