Euphausiacea

Euphausiacea (krill; subphylum Crustacea, class Malacostraca) Order of shrimp-like, marine crustaceans, dense swarms of which occur in ocean waters. They feed on diatoms and themselves comprise the main food of filter-feeding whales. Krill are up to 5 cm in length and are found in both surface and bottom waters.
