London International Festival of Theatre

London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT), biennial three-week summer festival started in 1981, presenting a programme of theatre, dance, workshops, and open-air events. Companies from many countries perform in a variety of forms and styles, from the classical to the avant-garde, and in their own language. Many theatres are used, most of them small and away from the centre. Some of the events are free, and some involve audience mobility. A festival club provides late night cabaret and musical entertainment.
