Fedeli

Fedeli, company of actors of the Italian commedia dell'arte formed in about 1598 by Giovann Battista Andreini. It first came into prominence in 1603, and later took in actors from the Gelosi and Accesi. For some time the company's Arlecchino was the famous Tristano Martinelli who paid prolonged visits to Paris, his acting, and that of Andreini, being much admired by Louis XIII. The Fedeli also toured extensively in Italy, and seems to have continued in existence until shortly after 1644. The company was officially under the protection of the Duke of Mantua, succeeding the Gelosi.
