Boat Truck

Boat Truck, platform, running on castors, on which scenes, or sections of scenes, can be moved on and off stage. Two such trucks, each pivoted at the down-stage and side-stage corners, so as to swing in and out over the acting area, are known as a scissor stage. A further variant is the waggon stage run on a system of rails and lifts. As many as five waggon stages can be found in some large theatres, each capable of moving aside from the acting area, or of rising and sinking in the cellar, with a full load of scenery.
