Antal Dorati was appointed cond.-in-chief 1975–8, Walter Weller 1980–5. André Previn from 1985–7 and prin. cond. 1987–92, Yuri Temirkanov prin. cond. from 1992. Vladimir Ashkenazy mus. dir. 1987–94, Daniele Gatti from 1996. No connection with Royal Philharmonic Society.
