Masnadieri, I (The Robbers). Opera in 4 acts by Verdi to lib. by Maffei from Schiller's play Die Räuber (1781). Comp. 1846–7. Prod. London 1847 (with Jenny Lind; only Verdi opera written for London); NY 1860. Revived It. Radio 1951, London (Camden Fest.) 1962, and WNO 1977 (Cardiff and elsewhere).
