Denisov, Edison (b Tomsk, 1929; d Paris, 1996). Russ. composer. Trained as mathematician, but taught himself gui. and cl. before studying pf. Persuaded by Shostakovich to study comp. with Shebalin at Moscow Cons. 1951–6. Taught at Moscow Cons. from 1960. Worked at Experimental EMS, Moscow, 1968–70. Student of Russ. folkmus.
