bwbach, bwbachod (pl.) [W, bogy, scarecrow, bugbear]. Welsh supernatural creature who may be helpful or mischievous in the household. The bwbach is a scold to teetotallers and dissenting ministers. Also used to describe a warrior as leader causing terror. Best known in the three Glamorganshires.
