Uthr Bendragon

Uthr Bendragon, Uther Pendragon, Uter-pendragon [W uthr, terrible; pen, head; dragon, leader]. Father of Arthur, begotten on Eigr (or Igerna), by means of an intrigue arranged by Merlin. His name was known in Welsh tradition before the time of Geoffrey of Monmouth (12th cent.).
