Sliab Mis
1. Slieve Mish. Range of mountains (highest 2,796 feet), 14 miles long, at the narrowest neck of the Dingle peninsula, Co. Kerry, with rich mythological and legendary associations. The invading Milesians first defeat the Tuatha Dé Danann here in the Lebor Gabála [Book of Invasions], and also first meet Banba, an incarnation of Ireland, in this same place. Here also is Cahirconree, archaeological site thought to be the fortress of the hero Cú Roí, many of whose adventures take place nearby; it is here that Bé Chuma finds the wand of Cú Roí. In oral tradition the mountains are haunted by a man with a menacing black dog.

2. Slemish Mountain. Peak (1,437 feet) in Co. Antrim, 4 miles SE of Broughshane, where, according to tradition, St Patrick while a young captive tended sheep and swine.
