Searbhán

Searbhán, Searban, Searbhan, Sharvan. Surly ogre or giant of Tóraigheacht Dhiarmada agus Ghráinne [The Pursuit of Diarmait and Gráinne] who protects the magical rowanberries in the forest of Dubros, Co. Sligo. As he was so skilled in the arts of magic, Diarmait could not overcome him until he turned his own weapon, a club, against him. In some texts Searbhán takes the epithet Lochlonnach [Norseman], while in others he is described as a Fomorian.
