Morfudd, Morfydd [cf. W morwyn, maiden]. Name borne by many women from early Welsh tradition, the best-known of whom is the most abiding love of the poet Dafydd ap Gwilym (fl. 1320–70), though she was married to Y Bwa Bach. Another is a daughter of Modron and Urien.
