Glewlwyd Gafaelfawr, Gavaelvawr [W gafael, grasp, grip; fawr (mawr), mighty]. Obdurate door-keeper at Arthur's court. He refuses Culhwch entry because the feast has already begun but relents upon Arthur's command. In some texts he is door-keeper only on New Year's Day, while in others he serves the full year; in still others he has higher status as keeper of the court. Often compared to Cei [Kay].
