Gilfaethwy

Gilfaethwy, Gilvaethwy, Gilvarthwy (corrupt), usually with the patronymic fab [son of] Dôn. Brother of Gwydion in the fourth branch of the Mabinogi whose unrequited love for the virginal Goewin, foot-holder to his uncle Math, led him to rape her after following Gwydion's ruse. In punishment, Gilfaethwy and Gwydion were transformed successively into a pair of deer, pigs, and wolves. Probably the model for the Arthurian figure Giflet (or Girflet) Filz Do.
