Eochaid Ollathair, Eochaid Ollathir [Ir., all-father, father of all]. Alternate name, in certain circumstances, for the Dagda. Some imaginative genealogists have traced family pedigrees back to Eochaid Ollathair, just as they did with Nuadu. In an alternate version of the birth of Angus Óg, the god of youth and beauty, Eochaid seduces Eithne(2) (another name for Boand), the wife of Elcmar; mother and father ask Midir to foster the child. In the better-known version the Dagda under his own name seduces Boand, who is married to Nechtan; the adulterers seek to disguise their deed by having Elcmar serve as foster-father. Eochaid Ollathair is often confused with Eochaid(1), the sun-god.
