Dún na mBarc

Dún na mBarc [Ir., Fort of the Ships]. Point of landing on Bantry Bay, Co. Cork, for the first invasion of Ireland, led by Cesair, according to the Lebor Gabála [Book of Invasions]. Identified today with Dunnamark Fort, Castle, House, and Falls, opposite Whiddy Island, near the town of Bantry, Co. Cork. Geoffrey Keating's History (17th cent.) locates Dún na mBarc on Ballinskellig Bay, Co. Kerry.
