Britán Mael, Briotán Maol [Ir., Bretan the crop-headed (?)]. According to the Irish pseudo-history Lebor Gabála [Book of Invasions], he was chief of one of the three surviving Nemedian families, who migrated to Britain, settled there, and gave his name to that island.
