Ben Bulben, Benbulben, Benbulbin, Binn Gulbain, Beann Ghulban. A peak 1,722 feet high in Co. Sligo, 10–12 miles NW of Sligo town, adjacent to the village of Drumcliff, rich in legendary and literary associations. Ben Bulben takes its name from Conall Gulban, a son of Niall Noígiallach [of the Nine Hostages], who was fostered here. It is the site where Diarmait was killed in most versions of the wild boar hunt of Tóraigheacht Dhiarmada agus Ghráinne [The Pursuit of Diarmait and Gráinne]. The baby Oisín of the Fenian Cycle was found here. Remnants of the first castle of the O'Conors of Sligo may be seen at the foot. W. B. Yeats mentions Ben Bulben often in his poetry.
