Bedwyr [W, birch hero]. A Welsh Arthurian hero, the counterpart of and perhaps the origin for Bedivere, Beduers, Beduerus, etc., as well as Pellinor and Bellinor. The son of Pedrawg, Bedwyr was often seen in the company of
Cei. Bedwyr was the servitor of Arthur and was in charge of his liquor cabinet; he threw the sword Excalibur into the lake. Bedwyr accompanied
Culhwch on his quest for Olwen; in this story he is described as one-armed but unequalled in use of the lance. He was also a swift runner.
