Arvor [Bret. Ar-Mor, by the sea]. The Breton name for the coastal regions of Brittany as opposed to Argoad, Argoadek, the name for the interior regions. The denoted area is not entirely coextensive with the northern department now known as Côte d’Armor, formerly Côte du Nord. See E. W. Rinder, The Shadow of Arvor (Edinburgh, 1896).
