Arca Dubh

Arca Dubh, Arcai Dubh lasgair [ScG, black Arca/-i, the fisherman]. Villainous fisherman in Scottish Gaelic folklore, known as Black Arky in translated stories. He is the usual murderer of Cumhall, father of Fionn mac Cumhaill. In one version he tricks Cumhall out of his sword and kills him with it. In another he lures Cumhall to an island with a beautiful woman while he waits stealthily in the grass.
