phenotype
phenotype
phenotype The observable manifestation of a specific
genotype, i.e. those properties of an organism, produced by the genotype in conjunction with the environment, that are observable. Organisms with the same overall genotype may have different phenotypes because of the effects of the environment and of gene interaction. Conversely, organisms may have the same phenotype but different genotypes, as a result of
incomplete dominance,
penetrance, or
expressivity.
