Swietenia (mahogany; family Meliaceae) A genus containing the true mahoganies, which are deciduous trees with pinnate leaves, and flowers that are functionally unisexual. The fruit is a capsule. They yield valuable timber. There are 3 species, occurring from Mexico to Brazil, and in the Caribbean region.
