Sindora (family Leguminosae, subfamily Caesalpinoideae) A genus of big trees which have pinnate leaves. There are 4 sepals, 1 petal, 9 fused stamens, and 1 free stamen. The fruit is a flat, rounded, woody, indehiscent, spiny pod with 1 big, flat seed (or several such) seated on a big, hard aril. The timber is valuable (sepetir). There are 20 species, occurring in south-eastern Asia, and 1 species in western Africa.
