Loranthaceae
Loranthaceae A family composed of small shrubs that are partially parasitic on trees, with
opposite or
whorled, entire leaves, and unisexual regular flowers, usually with 2-
perianth whorls. The
ovary is
inferior, the fruit a
berry.
Viscum (mistletoe) has tiny
tetramerous flowers and white berries. In modern classifications there are some 70 genera, with 940 species. They are mostly tropical, but some are temperate.
