Larix (larches; family Pinaceae, *tribe Abietineae) A genus of deciduous and coniferous trees that have soft, deciduous leaves in tufts, mostly on short spur shoots, and oval, persistent cones. There are about 9 species, found in the cold temperate parts of the northern hemisphere.
