Capparis (family Capparidaceae) A genus of trees and shrubs with tough leaves and prickly stems which are found in dry regions. The flowers are 4-petalled, with numerous stamens, and are yellow to white in colour. The fruits are fleshy. They are found throughout the tropical and warm regions of the world, with about 250 species, only 2 of which occur in Europe.
