A Dictionary of Plant Sciences | 1998 | Copyright

Albuginaceae (order Peronosporales) A family of fungi which are obligate parasites (see PARASITISM) of flowering plants, causing diseases known as ‘white rust’ or ‘white blister’. Sporangiophores develop beneath the host epidermis, causing it to swell and burst. The white powdery sporangia are then dispersed by wind and rain.
